Kelsey K. Cappelle, DVM is a Veterinary Surgery Resident at MedVet Columbus, where she has been part of the medical team since 2017. Dr. Cappelle attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before going on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine.  Following the completion of veterinary school, Dr. Cappelle completed a yearlong small animal rotating internship at Auburn University, as well as a second internship in small animal surgery at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, Texas.

In addition to her clinical endeavors, Dr. Cappelle has co-authored several published veterinary articles, including Agreement Between Cytology and Histopathology for Regional Lymph Node Metastasis in Dogs With Melanocytic Neoplasms‘Hygienic’ lymphocytes convey increased cancer risk, and Pathogenic intestinal bacteria enhance prostate cancer development via systemic activation of immune cells in mice.

Although interested in all aspects of veterinary surgery, Dr. Cappelle maintains a particular interest in wound reconstruction and fracture repair.  One of her favorite parts of practicing veterinary medicine is having the opportunity to constantly learn new aspects of the ever-growing veterinary surgery field. When not treating patients, Dr. Cappelle enjoys going to concerts, exploring new restaurants, and playing in the park with her two dogs.
